From a mandatory safety orientation at hire to weekly toolbox meetings, Southern Wall Systems, Inc. employees are kept current on Southern Wall Systems, Inc. safety requirements, OSHA regulations and each individual General Contractor's requirements specific to their jobsite(s).
Whether it's a toolbox meeting on scaffolding safety measures or a weekly spanish class (to ensure clear communication in-field) Southern Wall Systems, Inc. is serious about safety.
Safety Orientation
Shortly after hire, all Southern Wall Systems, Inc. field employees are required to attend a safety orientation conducted by Jason Whitlock, Operations Manager. During this time, Southern Wall Systems, Inc. safety policies are covered. If the employee will be driving a company vehicle, they are required to authorize Southern Wall Systems, Inc. to review their DMV records periodically to ensure road safety. Results are routinely reviewed by Southern Wall Systems, Inc. management.
Drug Free Workplace
Southern Wall Systems, Inc. is a certified drug free workplace and drug tests all employees at hire as well as under the following conditions: post accident, reasonable suspicion, random and post rehabilitation. On a monthly basis, employees receive a newsletter on current drug and alcohol related topics including Georgia laws. In addition, Supervisors receive an hour of training each year on how to spot drug and alcohol abuse and handle such sensitive situations.
Weekly Toolbox Meetings
Project Manager's and/or Superintendent's are required to conduct weekly toolbox meetings with employee's on their jobs. Topics change weekly and cover various safety concerns including ladder safety, scaffolding and heat stress to name a few. Safety concerns specific to that particular job are covered as well. Handouts are given to all attendees (english on the front, spanish on the back).

The Southern Wall Systems, Inc. safety committee meets periodically to discuss current safety issues at Southern Wall Systems and industry wide. New OSHA regulations and the Southern Wall Systems, Inc. Safety Manual are reviewed and updated (if required). Membership is open to all Southern Wall Systems employees.
