SunTrust Park’s seating area puts fans closer to the action not by reducing the foul territory footprint but with cantilever designs that push the middle and upper bowls toward the field.
The designers incorporated a lot of brick in the 1.1 million-square-foot stadium—arrayed in patterns popular in the region that give the ballpark a look of warmth and timelessness.
To complement the extensive brickwork, the owners opted for precast stone in all of the entryways.
To enhance and protect this masterpiece, our client called on Southern Wall Systems to install a variety of stunning finishes throughout the 41,500-seat stadium.
To decoratively coat and protect the stadium’s wide range of surfaces, we used Parex direct-applied finishes. And we used Parex’s Standard WaterMaster continuous insulation system to provide an economical, effective means of not only insulating but also ensuring excellent drainage.
Fun facts
- The insulation we installed at SunTrust Park is all the more important than at most stadiums because every level includes . . . air conditioning!
- The stadium uses LED lighting, which makes for better-quality light for fans in the stands and those watching on TV.
- The stadium’s Wi-Fi network is one of the most robust in all of professional sports—enough bandwidth for everyone in a sold-out ballpark to simultaneously post a selfie.
